The State of the Raid
Taking a look at the current overall percentile aggregate data, the bottom of the meters is highly congested. Frost Death Knights, Feral Druids, Arms Warriors, and Arcane Mages have been heavily underperforming in raid environments. The March 31st hotfixes are a direct surgical strike to pull these specs off the floor.
The Winners
Shadow Priest: This is the anomaly of the patch. Despite already sitting comfortably in the top 5 specs on the raid logs, Blizzard just dropped a nuclear buff on them. Shadow Word: Death damage is up a staggering 80%, giving them a lethal execute. Shadow and Void Apparition damage is also up 35%. Expect them to contest Destro Warlocks for the #1 overall spot by the weekend.
Arms Warrior: The logs show Arms struggling near the bottom of the pack, heavily bottle necked by single-target output. Blizzard listened: Execute damage is up 20% and Overpower is up 10%. They are officially back on the menu for boss-heavy encounters.
Arcane Mage (Sunfury): Another spec sitting near the bottom of the charts. To fix their priority target burst, Burden of Power now increases Arcane Blast damage by 25% (up from a measly 5%).
The Flat Buff Rescue Package If you play a spec that has been scraping the bottom of the aggregate scores, you just got a flat aura buff to keep you competitive.
Frost DK: +4% overall damage.
Beast Mastery & Survival Hunter: +4% overall damage.
Feral Druid: +3% overall damage (paired with an 8% nerf to Frantic Frenzy specifically to stop them from becoming too broken in Mythic+ while fixing their raid single-target).
The Verdict If you are pushing keys or logging raids this week, the hierarchy has shifted. Funnel the Shadow Priests, and don't immediately decline the Arms Warriors in the queue…their single target is finally online.
